Arctic Communities Program - Created in Partnership with UArctic

In partnership with UArctic, Live It Earth brings a program about Arctic Communities to classrooms across Canada. This place-based program highlights stories of resilience and adaptations in the community of Tuktoyaktuk, Northwest Territories, and engages Inuit youth in order to understand, from their perspective, the impact of climate change.

In this community-driven program, we learn how important the ocean is to places like Tuktoyaktuk, how Arctic communities can adapt to climate change and why resilience is the key to our future.

Featured in the program are Nathan ‘Muk’ Kuptana (local Tuk resident), Maeva Gauthier (PhD candidate, Live It Earth co-founder), Nicole Bonnet (PhD candidate, CARL) and Sarah Kehler (PhD candidate, CARL). The program draws on students’ expertise from the Climate Adaptation and Resilience Lab (University of Alberta) and the broader membership of the UArctic Thematic Network on Local-scale Planning, Climate Change and Resilience, led by Jeff Birchall.
