Feature Show

Our 20-30 minute, high-quality visual productions are the anchor point for the mind-blowing, multi-sensory, live-learning experiences we create.

Teacher Resource Live it Earth

Live Q&A with experts

Each feature show is accompanied by a live Q&A where experts on the topic answer student questions in real time. On a live Q&A day, an app loads next to the video player and students or their teachers can submit questions in real time.

Students experience a learning community through the questions and answers from online experts. If the timing for the live Q&A does not work well with your class schedule - not to worry. An archive of this exchange can be accessed at any time and creates a learning resource of its own which can jump start additional inquiry and project based learning.

Educator resources

Each feature show and Q&A session is supported with a set of educator resources that provide flexibility in lesson plan development.

For each program, our selection of printable, downloadable and Google Classroom ready resources includes:

Checklist: A one-pager of all the pertinent information and components involved in participating fully in the Live It experience!

Inquiry Guide: Use the Inquiry guide to support inquiry prior to, during and even after the Live it show for project based learning. Distribute printable or digital copies per learner or just load one copy right into Google Classroom as a handout!

Creative Challenge: A creative challenge engages students in the theme of the show with fun cross-curricular and creative challenges. This engagement will support learning in the inquiry process and during the show itself.

STEM Challenge: STEM challenges (Science Technology Engineering and Math) get kids problem solving and working in a hands-on way. Kids of varying ages and skill levels can engage and build complexity. The Bonus Creative Challenge ties into the STEM challenge to make it STEAM!

Story Challenge: Story challenges include recommended reading accompanied by creative writing prompts and activities.

Game Challenge: Gamify learning with these fun and challenging games built by our Live It team. Try playing collaboratively as a team or competitively to get the high score!

Deep Dive: For those who are passionate about a topic, our Deep Dive videos appear in the Explore section of a program and go in-depth with experts.

Career Pathways: Career Pathways are short videos that explore unconventional or unknown careers and include an expert’s own personal story of how they got there.

Important inputs and outputs

Indigenous Perspectives: Whenever possible we include and integrate indigenous perspectives in our Feature Show and Slideshow resource. In some cases we have provided a supplemental video in our Explore section that provides more time and space for indigenous experts to share insights, traditional knowledge and connections to other related topics.

Call-to-Action: Live It values a learning-by-doing approach to encourage learners to foster their own personal and social values organically. Each show and slideshow will recommend a call to action for our viewers! The prompts in each show will vary from citizen science to community service, and experiential or project based learning.

Self Assessment: We include self assessment tools so kids can practice the ability to assess their own strengths and learn how to create meaningful and achievable goals.  The practice of self assessment over the course of 8 programs during the school year provides the opportunity to demonstrate growth and learning.
