Orange Shirt Day Project

Orange Shirt Day is a significant annual event in Canada that recognizes the history and legacy of the country's residential school system and raises awareness about the impact it had on Indigenous communities, particularly Indigenous children.

Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation are important steps in acknowledging the dark chapters of Canada's history, fostering dialogue, and working towards healing and reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities. They also emphasize the importance of education and understanding as the path to a more inclusive and equitable society.

This year, Live it Earth wants to show its support and reaffirm its strong commitment to the Truth and Reconciliation path. We are asking everyone from our community to participate in a video project that we will release on the 30th of September

How to be part of the video

  1. Take a vertical picture of yourself wearing orange (or a picture of your family or classroom, as long as they are wearing orange). The more pictures, the better! We need the person's knees to be visible in the picture (see the example below).

  2. Make sure anyone on the picture has signed the online release form. It takes less than a minute! We won’t be able to use your photo if we don’t have a release form

  3. Send the photo to roxane@liveit.earth
